Stelvio, Austria & St Moritz

This tour includes some of the world’s most iconic mountain pass drives such as Stelvio, Timmelsjoch, Fluela and Hahntennjoch. To complement your time behind the wheel, evenings will be spent relaxing in some of Europe’s finest spa hotels in famous locations such as the elegant St. Moritz, the vibrant town of Lindau on the shores of Lake Constance, and the sophisticated Italian spa town of Merano.

The itinerary

  • Day Day 1: Munich- the Bavarian capital.

Accommodation: 5 Star Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinsk, Munich

Check in to the classic 5-star Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski on Munich’s Maximillianstrasse. Indulge in a sauna and massage in the hotel, or enjoy a traditional Bavarian beer and dining experience in one of the nearby historic Beer Halls.

  • Day Day 2: Munich to Tyrol, Austria via Hahntennjoch Pass.

Accommodation: 5 Star Interalpen Hotel Tyrol, Seefeld

In the morning, one of our team will deliver your car to The Kempinski. After a vehicle familiarisation session and route briefing, we’ll hand you the keys and your adventure begins with an opportunity to explore the limits of your car on some de-restricted sections of the autobahn.

As the Austrian Alps rise in front of you, you’ll discover the rhythmical curves of the forested Berwang Strasse. There’s barely any time to catch your breath before arriving at the approach road of the exhilarating Hahntennjoch Pass: a 20km stretch of road that meanders through densely wooded valleys before rising to a 1,895m (6,000ft) summit with views of the surrounding peaks and glacier-carved valleys.

Rest for the night at Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol, one of Europe’s great alpine resorts with opulent spa facilities and drivein reception.

  • Day Day 3: Seefeld, Austria to Merano, Italy via Timmelsjoch (Rombo Pass).

Accommodation: 5-Star Villa Eden Hotel, Merano

After a sumptuous breakfast buffet, you’ll make your way south to the Ötztaler Gletscherstrasse, the second highest paved road in Europe, before breaking for coffee overlooking the Tiefenbach Glacier.

Back in your car, it’s only a short drive to the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road. Taking you across the Otzal mountain range into Italian Tyrol, this iconic pass road, featuring 60 corners, is an engineering marvel that delivers both thrilling scenery and a challenging, yet rewarding drive.

After Timmelsjoch, cruise through the charming Tyrolean villages of the Trentino-Aldo region before ending your driving day in the spa town of Merano. Here, you can spend your evening unwinding in the luxurious 5-star Villa Eden park hotel.

  • Day Day 4: Merano to St Moritz via Stelvio Pass.

Accommodation: 5-Star Suvretta House, St Moritz

Leaving Merano in the morning, you’ll make your way to the one and only Stelvio Pass. This famous ribbon of road is one of motoring’s mustdo’s. After you’ve conquered the iconic switchbacks, spend some time soaking up the carnival atmosphere at the pass itself, then venture down the more modern and arguably more driveroriented western side of Stelvio, and onto the tax haven ski resort town of Livigno.

Following a well-earned lunch in Livigno, enjoy the sweeping mountain roads and landscapes on route to the nearby Swiss border then follow the UNESCO World Heritage listed Bernina Express train route across the lakes and peaks of Bernina Pass.

After a memorable day of alpine driving and scenery, it’s time to put your feet up and relax in the spa of the iconic Suvretta House, overlooking the Albula Alps and Lake Silverplaner.

  • Day Day 5: St Moritz, Switzerland to Lindau, Germany via Fluela Pass.

Accommodation: 5 Star Hotel Bayerischer Hof, Lindau

Today starts with a classic Suvretta breakfast followed by a leisurely drive alongside crystal-clear streams as you drive out of St Moritz. After passing through the charming village of Zernez, the scenery quickly changes as you climb the flowing bends of the Fluela Pass consistently rated as one of the great drives in Switzerland. Once across the pass, carve your way along the western side of Fluela as sweeping bends cling to the sides of the valleys, making your way into the ski resort town of Davos.

As the Alps fade in your review mirror, motor on to Liechtenstein and enjoy a lunch break in Vaduz, the quaint capital of the Principality, before arriving on the serene shores of Lake Constance (Bondensee) and your room at the waterfront Hotel Bayerischer Hof, Lindau.

  • Day Day 6: Lindau to Munich via Neuschwanstein Castle.

Accommodation: 5 Star Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinskl, Munich

Rise to a breakfast overlooking the three countries that share the shores of Lake Constance before starting out on the celebrated German Alpine Road to the town of Fussen, overlooking King Ludwig’s iconic Neuschwanstein Castle. Take a break on Lake Forgensee before heading to the castle, where you can admire Ludwig’s extravagance and amazing views of the Bavarian Alps.

Once you’ve explored the castle and its surrounds, motor back to the German Alpine Road and its quaint Bavarian villages, before relishing your final chance to enjoy the autobahn on your way back to the Kempinski Hotel in Munich..

  • Day Day 7: Munich

One of our team will pick-up your vehicle from the Kempinski prior to check out, and Munich is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
