When people imagine the Germany they want to visit, most of the time, they dream of Bavaria. The southernmost state of the republic has an almost unfair share of Germany’s most seductive attractions: idyllic villages, fascinating history, magnificent castles, architectural marvels, the pristine peaks of the Alps, infamous beer, one of the best road networks on earth … the list goes on and on.

While it’s simply impossible to see everything this remarkable part of the world offers in just a few days, at Alps & Autobahns, we’ll make sure you get to sink your teeth into Bavaria’s true highlights.

Most of our driving tours start in Munich and include a taste of southern Bavaria, from sweeping views of picture-perfect countryside to its fine dining opportunities and magnificent castles, richly steeped in history.

If you’d prefer to spend a few days really delving into this part of Germany, we offer a multi-day ‘Best of Bavaria and Salzburg’ tour. Along with guiding you along the best sections of the autobahn and some fantastic back roads, we’ll take you to Rothenburg (known as one of the prettiest towns in Germany), the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle, the best sections of the Romantic Road, the historic Eagles Nest and more – including some treasures off the beaten track.

To finish, we’ll also sneak you across the border into Salzburg, the home of Mozart, so you can explore this classic fairy tale town and its towering 1000-year-old fort.
