The itinerary

  • Day Day 1: Munich, Bavaria

Accommodation: 5 Star Roomers Hotel, Munich.

Check in to the 5-star Roomers Hotel on the edge  of Munich’s historic centre. Indulge in a spa treatment at the hotel, take the short metro ride to BMW’s HQ and museum, or explore the sights and culinary delights of Marienplatz, the heart of Munich’s pedestrian only town centre.

Church of St. Luke in the night illumination. Munich. Bavaria

  • Day Day 2: Munich, Germany to Seefeld, Austria via Hahntennjoch Pass

Accommodation: 5 Star Interalpen Hotel Tyrol, Seefield.

After a sumptuous buffet breakfast, one of our team will meet you in your hotel to introduce you to your chosen car. Your journey begins with a southbound run on the famous German Autobahn to the fairy-tale inspired Neuschwanstein Castle. In the afternoon, you’ll cross into Austria along the curves of the Berwang Road before reaching the first of the tour’s passes: the exhilarating Hahntenjoch.

Your first day on the road comes to an end when you hand your keys to the car concierge at the exquisite Interalpen Hotel Tyrol. This is one of Europe’s standardsetting alpine hotels, with an extensive range of indoor and outdoor activities to complement its traditional Tyrolean décor, awardwinning spa and firstclass dining options.

  • Day Day 3: Seefeld, Austria to Selva di Val Gardena, Italy

Accommodation: 5 Star Alpenroyal Grand Hotel Gourmet & Spa, Selva di Val Gardena

After enjoying the Interalpen’s exquisite breakfast buffet, head south along the route as it meanders through the Otzal valley, before driving the second highest paved road in Europe, the Ötztal Glacier Road

From there, continue further into the Alps along the approach road to the 2,400m (8,000ft) Rombo Pass (Timmelsjoch). Here you can take a lunch break at the panoramic Timmelsjoch Restaurant before descending into Italy and continuing on to Bolzano (Bozen); the beautiful medieval gateway to the Dolomites. After a stroll around Bolzano, end your day with a short drive through the Dolomites to Ortesei and your base for the next two nights: the luxurious Alpenroyal Grand Hotel.

  • Day Day 4: Touring the alpine roads of The Dolomites

Accommodation: 5 Star Alpenroyal Grand Hotel Gourmet & Spa.

After a leisurely start to the day that might include a spa treatment or a sauna and jacuzzi session, get ready for an enthralling day driving some of the best roads in Europe.

Today’s tour through the heart of the Dolomites includes four of the most spectacular pass roads you are ever likely to encounter Gardena, Sella, Pordoi and Campolongo – as well as a stunning cable car ride to Sass Pordoi, the highest peak in the Dolomites.

When you’re ready to finish the day, unwind at the Alpenroyal – just in time to watch the sun set over the peaks surrounding Selva di Val Gardena.

  • Day Day 5: Selva di Val Gardena, Italy to Zell Am See, Austria

Accommodation: 5 Star Salzburgerhof Wellness Hotel, Zell Am See.

After a hearty Italian breakfast, head across the Dolomites towards the crystal-clear Lago di Landro (Lake Landro) with Mount Piana’s pristine peaks towering over its eastern shore. From Landro, it’s back into Austria for a lunch break in the medieval old town of Lienz.

After Lienz, get ready to encounter one of the world’s great motoring experiences. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is a 47km long, perfectly surfaced ribbon of tarmac that traverses alpine meadows, waterfalls and idyllic villages all surrounded by the highest snowcovered peaks in Austria. Take your time to enjoy this drive and savour each of its 36 turns, as well as the seemingly endless array of opportunities to view the diverse landscape.

Stay the night in the village of Zell Am See, where you can relax in the Salzburgerhof Wellness Hotel with its 2,500 square metre (28,000 square foot) awardwinning spa.

  • Day Day 6: Zell Am See, Austria to Munich, Germany

Accommodation: 5 Star Roomers Hotel, Munich.

Savour an exceptional breakfast buffet at Salzburgerhof before winding your way through the Berchtesgaden National Park, Bavaria. Just outside the town of Berchtesgaden, you can visit the infamous Eagle’s Nest and take in its panoramic views across the Bavarian Alps.

From the Eagle’s Nest, it’s a quick trip along the Autobahn to the picturesque shores of Lake Chiem. After a break on the lake, you’ll have one more chance to enjoy some of the unrestricted sections of autobahn as you cruise your way back to the Roomers Hotel in Munich.

  • Day Day 7: Your tour winds up in Munich, Bavaria

Your tour comes to a close and it’s time to hand back the keys to your car. One of the Alps and Autobahn team will meet you at the Roomers Hotel in the morning to pick up your vehicle prior to check-out
